United Church Wotton under Edge

Strollers

Alan and Babs Pearn started the Strollers in 2008.

They were inspired by the success of the United Ramblers, who were already enjoying our magnificent countryside by going out for a walk together once a month. But too many friends were finding those walks a little over-demanding to be truly enjoyable.

The United Strollers aim at a much less strenuous walk, with only the slightest of gradients and the most trivial of obstacles, and at a very leisurely pace, so that the walkers can focus on the magnificence of our countryside.

In practice we can get any number from four to twelve joining us.

The walks are usually around two or three miles, led by someone within the group. We meet at the church at 10.30am on the second Monday of the month, and drive to the start (and end!) of the walk. After the walk we have lunch at a convenient pub.

It is by no means confined to Church members! On several occasions there have been more people who do not come to our church than who do - which is great.

We share the United Ramblers Christmas Dinner each year at the Rose & Crown in Nympsfield. We seem to get far more people to the Christmas Dinner than we have ever seen on either the Ramblers or the Strollers, but...
